Theology is important as the truth about God and ourselves. But it is not end in itself. It’s purpose is to reveal the simplicity of the Gospel to all who value real life. An alarming number of pastors and teachers are not well informed on the theology of the Christian Church. Some theologies are so distorted that they are barely Christian and not at all catholic in the universal church sense. But are of a private interpretation that dishonours Christ and debilitates His people.
THE DEVELOPMENT OF TRUTH
“The trinitarian self-revealing of God to the disciples and apostles took place, and was absorbed by them in the form to which the New Testament Scriptures bear witness; this is how it is surely to be understood by us. “It is to be understood, however, as in the primitive Church, on the actual historical ground which divine revelation has established for itself in the personal coming of God into our world of space and time in Jesus Christ who is the incarnation of his eternal Word within the field of human existence, speech and understanding. A NEW WAY BEGAN “In the advent of the Kingdom of God embodied in Christ a new world order was inaugurated, and with the pouring out of God’s Spirit upon the Church a profound revolution in knowledge of God took place, a radical reorganisation of people’s consciousness and a redirection of their rational approach to God were brought about, in which far from being conformed to the pattern of this present world they were transformed through a renewal of their mind and were given new powers of discernment in the things of God.” (1)
A STRAIGHT WAY AND A STRAIGHT YOU You are not alone in your desire to know God. You are surrounded and embraced by Father, Son and Holy Spirit who live to reveal who they are and who you are becoming in Christ your life. From the spirit of revelation there are lies to be undone and truths to be revealed. As Jesus said, ‘Eternal life is to know God and Jesus Christ whom God has sent.’ The converse of this is to have a bent view of God and of Christ – an astigmatic vision that distorts God and cripples people. God took the initiative in Jesus and took steps to reveal His real self to us so that we could become True Selves rather than shibboleths and caricatures of who we can be as daughters and sons of God.
